Hi Everyone,
Following on from my recent post about Pinging your site I have carried on quite a bit of research as a computer wizard colleague has told me that pinging from the command prompt does not really work. He informs me that the ping command (from the command prompt) is just used to send a packet of data to a server which is then, in turn, sent back again. It’s used to test the availability of a server and the speed of the connection between one computer and another! Pinging a domain, sub domain or IP address will not contact any search engines and let them know your site has been updated.
For this part I apologise, but it has caused me to carry out considerable research, especially into pinging a site or blog created using wordpress.
As this blog is written using wordpress I started having a look at their options for pinging
and given below is what I found on the WordPress Blog.
To ping all the services possible with one fast and automatic step, follow these instructions:
- Login to your site
- Go to Options ? Writing
- Erase anything you may have in “Update Services” and just put
http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ - You can add your list of pinging sites, remembering to create a line break between each one.
- Watch how fast your posting goes.
So to sum up, here’s a list of pinging sites that I have found which should prove really helpful and
effective pinging services.
Why not add them to your blog and let wordpress update them everytime you finish creating a new post.
