Internet Nightmare

My Recent Internet Service Provider Nightmare.

Hello again everyone,

I am posting this addition to my blog as a warning that things can very easily go wrong when you least expect them.
As you all know by now I have got extremely interested in this coaching programme and Internet Marketing Course.
Well I’m going to let you into a little secret? Don’t tell anyone else but a real problem occurred with my computer on Sunday evening, just a few minutes after the last post was made.

I thought I was doing absolutely fantastically until that is we had a massive thunderstorm in our area.
One minute I was happily browsing around my new found money making project, IE: Clickbank.
The next I was looking at a computer screen with no Internet Access.
Yep I had had a minor power outage and without warning the computer had logged off of the Internet.
At the time I just thought this was an inconvenience and all would return to normal once the computer was restarted.
How wrong, stupid and nieve can a reasonably intelligent person be? It seems that the storm just triggered off an event that would have happened within 2 days anyway.
Because last month when my son took over my business and the landline number transferred to him BT told me I needed a MAC code to reset the Broadband access from my previous supplier.
I was previously with another supplier ORANGE, so the mac code was obtained and all should have gone ahead within 30 days. However due to an error on the part of the BT the new supplier the said mac code went away with the landline number leaving me with  just 30 days to go on the Internet and then unknown to me, bang that’s it mate your offline.
All the storm did was happen to occur the evening before the event was due, so the minor blip just happened to flag up the end of service.

This was to be the start of what is up until this time the first week of real Internet problems, and at present I do not know where they are going to all end up.
Now I am having the devil of a job to get re-instated as one supplier owns the line and another owns the broadband access.
Neither of them really cares two hoots about me, while they slowly try to sort it out, which could take anything up to another 30 days.
Beware everybody, when things go wrong with large corporations you just cannot win or speed things up. I have gone this week to the ombudsman at oftel and the so called problem is being dealt with, but meanwhile I am up the creek without a paddle. I warn you all there is no way to win, you just have to grin and bear it while the corporate wheels are VERY SLOWLY TURNING.

Rememember that MOUNTAIN I keep telling you I am climbing? Well I honestly believe that I have just slipped back down to base camp, … …under the AVALANCHE for a short time.
Am I worried?… … Yes of course, but only temporarily because I dont want to lag behind and lose track of where I am on the Mountain.
Having invested close on $800 (that’s about £400 sterling) at the present time I really want to and definitely need to make a phenominal success of my new found career.
Am I going to give up? You bet your sweet life I AM NOT. I might not have Internet access on my home computer right now, but I know quite a lot of people who do.
With this in mind first of all I thought I’d try to get my laptop connected up to a wireless connection from a neighbour or nearby broadcaster. Should be no problem at all right?
Oh well that’s gone out the door rapidly then! Believe it or not but the only person using the internet in my cul de sac is my immediate next door neighbour, and he only has a slow dial up service.
How can you believe that in this modern computer age? In a street of about 30 houses hardly anyone is using computers, with even less of them on the Internet.

What are they all missing?

What opportunities must there be for somebody to sell them all a computer and maybe give a few lessons?

Anyway to get back to my problems, my next step was to visit my brother in law a few miles away,
who lives in an American style motorhome with mobile broadband access.
He was very obliging but the download speed to obtain John’s coaching programme ran very slow and a few files got corrupted in the process.
Having tried a few times to load the files onto a memory stick, I eventually gave up on that particular idea.

Put on the thinking cap Dave! There’s got to be a short term solution to this problem.

I know I’ll try my sister although she no longer has a computer since hers went Kaput around last Christmas.
But she does live in the same village as me and from memory my niece has a laptop and I’m positive I could use that to get me out of trouble if she has Broadband access. EUREKA she not only has broadband but also a new laptop that I can download the files to. I cannot for obvious reasons spend hours at her house every night on the Internet but at least I can gain access for long enough to keep me up to date within reason.
I guess I’ll just have to muddle through. But there’s a lesson for us all here if we want to get on at computing of any sort!
NEVER GIVE UP, NOT EVER, NEVER EVER as I have stated before in this blog.

The only way up that mountain when you have had a fall or slid a long way back is to pick yourself up and once again start climbing, slowly but surely you will get nearer and nearer to the peak. If you slide back a little don’t surrender, don’t take the comfortable way out, but push on, stay fit and just keep putting one foot in front of the other. You’ll inevitably reach your goals. I KNOW I FULLY INTEND TO ACHIEVE ALL OF MINE

I just had to relay this story to you. I have had a serious backstep, but it will not stop me in my endeavours, just slow me down a little and give me time to plan well ahead for the great things to come.

Until next time when I hope to be back in business properly, all the best to anyone out there struggling, believe me you will make it, just keep persevering and get to the top of that mountain. The View will be Amazing.

All the best for now,

Dave Robus.
