Sunday, 1st weeks Steep Learning Curve.

Hello again, it’s now Sunday evening and I have had a few personal things to catch up on today, not the least of which has been trying to keep up with my current business, going shopping and getting up to date with various happenings that home  life sends us all.

However I have tried to spend a little time on this project today and hopefully should be a little further on with John Thornhill’s excellent coaching programme.

Al I want to say for the moment is that this week has been one of the

“STEEPEST LEARNING CURVES”

in the whole of my life. I thought I was on the way down the mountain, but I now realise that I am probably only on the lower slopes and very slowly but surely heading uphill to reach the top. In my own opinion I have come a long way in a very short space of time, but inevitably have one of the biggest climbs ever still to come.

On a more personal note, once again I know that I am going to make it, as to compare my leisure life with this business that I am trying to get started, here is the best example I can presently relate to you all.

Last year in May 2008, whilst just one month off of my 60th birthday I was on a two week vacation. During that holiday I joined just a few other (mainly 30 years younger) people who were endeavouring to CYCLE from the bottom to the top of MOUNT VESUVIOUS.

I had never done anything like this before, although I am reasonably fit and go to the gym regularly. I only started exercising when I was 54 years old just 6 years earlier, having realised that if I was going to live to a ripe old age I needed to do something about the sedentary lifestyle that went with my current job.

Well guess what? That was one of the best things I have ever done and I will never as long as I live regret it. I made it to the top, with a fantastic amount of encouragement from the cycle team leader in just 54 minutes. He reckoned the average time to be usually around 1 hour an 10 minutes. It was exhilarating and mind blowing to look into that crater and the best ride ever of my life. I hope to maybe put one or two pictures up showing this sometime soon.

Now though, I am making another massive mountain climb of a different nature. Another uphill challenge to myself, but hopefully with some help from my newest  mentor John Thornhill, I fully intend to get there.

Watch this space for more within a few days, all the best until I return.

Dave Robus.
